Electric Guitar & Bass Setup

All guitars and basses would benefit from a professional set up

Why have your guitar or bass set up professionally?

Experienced musicians know how they like their guitar to be set up ensuring it is comfortable to play and sounds at it’s best.
If you are learning to play it is vital to have a guitar that is set up to the peak of it’s playability, making it easier to play, it will sound better, it will be in tune up and down the fretboard and give you an all-round better experience. You do not need to have an expensive guitar to benefit from a good set up.
If your guitar has lost its mojo it’s probably time for a setup!

Basic Set Up

For electric and bass guitars that are reasonably clean, not heavily used, recently had a string change, and you just want the reassurance that the guitar is setup properly and playing as well as it can.

Cost: £40 (please note; strings cannot always be saved so a new set may be added to the cost).

1.Check and adjust as necessary string height at nut
2. Check neck relief and adjust truss rod as necessary
3. Set string height
4. Check intonation and adjust as necessary.
5. Check pickup height and adjust as necessary
6. Check electrics
7. Set string radius at bridge (on guitars which have individual string saddles)
8. Leave overnight and re-check

Standard Set Up

I would recommend this type of service and setup for most guitars.

Cost: £60-£70 plus cost of new strings
In addition to the Basic service, the guitar strings are removed, the fretboard is cleaned, oiled and polished, maple fretboards cleaned and polished, frets cleaned and polished and a new set of strings is installed.
(£70 for guitars with a Floyd Rose type tremolo)

Deluxe Set Up

I would recommend this type of service and setup for guitars that are heavily used and in need of a really good clean or have not been serviced for a long time.

Cost: £80-£100 plus cost of new strings.

In addition to the Standard service, all components are removed and cleaned and the body and neck is cleaned and polished, depending on condition of guitar, and a new set of strings is installed.

If you are not sure what type of set up is best for your guitar I am very happy to look at it and give you some advice. Please contact me to book an appointment.
